From Weddings to Work: Manushi Chhillar in Saree!

Manushi Chhillar Looks Awesome in Saree

Manushi Chhillar grabbed the headlines when she defeated 108 women from all over the world to register her success as Miss World! She bagged the blue-jaded crown and this title seven years after Priyanka Chopra, making it a gala affair for all of us. A medical student, she chose to pursue her dreams of the pageant. Following the duties for the crown and her campaign #BeautywithPurpose and for her personal outings, she can be seen sporting a saree traditionally and in a contemporary manner. If you are a fan of her, want to witness her journey to the top or looking for some inspiration to carry the ethnic six-yarder in style, here are a few glimpses of her style. (You can thank us later or better;drop your picture in sarees on our Facebook and we will have you featured)!

Here Manushi can be seen with Julia Morley, the chairman and CEO of Miss World opposite The Tower of London. It would have been quite difficult to pull off a gold saree with bold geometrical patterns in yellow-gold, but Manushi being the style icon she is, does it in style! While the nude margin on the pallu balances some of the bling, she keeps it simple with dainty danglers. No necklace and an easy-on-eyes clutch, she keeps it minimal in the accessory department, which makes for a wise choice. Her dewy makeup and kempt chignon round off her look nicely.

However, it is her draping style that tells her that style game is on-point. The most defining aspect of her look is the pallu that is pulled to the front. The side pallu drape, which is otherwise quite simple, gets a regal makeover with this classic move. Besides, it also lends her a nice and lean silhouette.

Manushi Chhillar in Organza Saree

Organza seems to be a hot favourite among celebrities. In London, she wears a silk organza saree featuring hand-painted flamingo flowers. The minuscule gota work adds the much-needed bling to the drape. The bandeau style readymade blouse and a knot detailing lend a contemporary touch to the ethnic wear. The see-through organza sari, a risqué blouse fastened with a knot at the back is how you give traditional ethnic wear the modern twist. Paired with Lucite heels, dainty jhumkas and tussled hair, she finishes her modern-slash-ethnic look in style. While the beauty queen-turned-actor picked this risqué number for the blouse, you can stick to a halter, sleeveless or corset-style sleeveless blouse to give your saree a party-ready spin.

She completes her look with a red bindi and Kundan jewellery- keeping it ethnic and dramatic at the same time. Paired with an easy bun, she looks like your dream girl turned into the girl next door. This drape serves as the perfect inspiration for traditionalist brides.

It looks so commonplace, something that you and I might have in our wardrobe already. The fuss-free draping, easy hairdo and zero accessories- this bare minimum look can take you from desk to dusk as effortlessly as her style!

If there is one dress, which works for every outing and never disappoints, it is a saree. Fresh from winning the title and crown, here she is seen in a conservative saree and a blouse. With her crown and statement jhumkas, she looks like the quintessential Indian woman. You can go with a crop top or a short kurta to make this sari a total stand-out! Pair this up with kolhapuri sandals or Rajasthani ‘mojris’ to complete your look.
