From Weddings to Work: Manushi Chhillar in Saree!

Manushi Chhillar Looks Awesome in Saree

Manushi Chhillar grabbed the headlines when she defeated 108 women from all over the world to register her success as Miss World! She bagged the blue-jaded crown and this title seven years after Priyanka Chopra, making it a gala affair for all of us.  A medical student, she chose to pursue her dreams of the pageant. Following the duties for the crown and her campaign #BeautywithPurpose and for her personal outings, she can be seen sporting a saree traditionally and in a contemporary manner. If you are a fan of her, want to witness her journey to the top or looking for some inspiration to carry the ethnic six-yarder in style, here are a few glimpses of her style. (You can thank us later or better;drop your picture in sarees on our Facebook and we will have you featured)!

Here Manushi can be seen with Julia Morley, the chairman and CEO of Miss World opposite The Tower of London. It would have been quite difficult to pull off a gold saree with bold geometrical patterns in yellow-gold, but Manushi being the style icon she is, does it in style! While the nude margin on the pallu balances some of the bling, she keeps it simple with dainty danglers. No necklace and an easy-on-eyes clutch, she keeps it minimal in the accessory department, which makes for a wise choice. Her dewy makeup and kempt chignon round off her look nicely.

However, it is her draping style that tells her that style game is on-point. The most defining aspect of her look is the pallu that is pulled to the front. The side pallu drape, which is otherwise quite simple, gets a regal makeover with this classic move. Besides, it also lends her a nice and lean silhouette.

Manushi Chhillar in Organza Saree

Organza seems to be a hot favourite among celebrities. In London, she wears a silk organza saree featuring hand-painted flamingo flowers. The minuscule gota work adds the much-needed bling to the drape. The bandeau style blouse and a knot detailing lend a contemporary touch to the ethnic wear. The see-through organza sari, a risqué blouse fastened with a knot at the back is how you give traditional ethnic wear the modern twist.  Paired with Lucite heels, dainty jhumkas and tussled hair, she finishes her modern-slash-ethnic look in style. While the beauty queen-turned-actor picked this risqué number for the blouse, you can stick to a halter, sleeveless or corset-style blouse to give your saree a party-ready spin.

The classic black and white beauty! As if she wasn’t turning enough heads in her direction already! Keeping it simple and classy, here she is in a traditional south silk saree. She completes her look with a red bindi and Kundan jewellery- keeping it ethnic and dramatic at the same time. Paired with an easy bun, she looks like your dream girl turned into the girl next door. This drape serves as the perfect inspiration for traditionalist brides.

Manushi is a trained Kuchipudi dancer and for the talent round of Femina Miss India, she presented this dance-drama.  In a red silk saree, she is what dreams are made of. With veni, winged eyeliner and ethnic temple jewellery- she keeps it as traditional as they come.

Manushi dons another party-ready drape and we are crushing hard on this look right now! She is unapologetic and undaunted when it comes to flaunting a sexy sari blouse. She stepped out in a ruffled saree and a tube top blouse- a perfect number for a cocktail or BFF wedding! In the accessories department, she kept it simple and let her drape do the talking! If you can’t decide between contemporary and traditional or tend to swerve towards both for your outing, you will love this ready-to-wear sari! This saree accentuates her petite frame while doing justice with both traditional and contemporary sensibilities. If you are looking for a party-wear sari for a wedding reception or sangeet, this plain chiffon saree is what you need to grab the limelight.

This easy ethnic look of Manushi gives us major fashion goals, making for a strong case for nude shades in saris. This saree looks lighter than air. The silver delicate foliage and floral motifs turn this saree into a party-ready avatar. This shimmery saree is perfect for an engagement celebration and wedding reception. The pom pom details of the pallu add to the drama.

Taking a break from silk and vibrant hues, Manushi can be seen here rocking a pink bandhani saree. With a little tassel detail at the end of the pallu, this saree is simple and so easy. It looks so commonplace, something that you and I might have in our wardrobe already. The fuss-free draping, easy hairdo and zero accessories- this bare minimum look can take you from desk to dusk as effortlessly as her style!

If you want to elevate your look, you can pair this saree with a sleeveless or sequined blouse for a more party-ready look.

Sridevi Kapoor and Manushiwear blue silk matka sareehandcrafted and hand-embroidered by artisans from West Bengal. This saree makes for a compelling case for non-traditional hues. Perfect for the time when you want to look dramatic minus the fuss. Her dewy makeup and uncut diamond jewellery set in 22K gold complete her look! The statement necklace and jhumkas add flair to her silhouette. While Sridevi wore her saree with a casual flair, Manushi’s choker necklace, centrally parted hair and tiny bindi take the style quotient of this opulent saree up by a few notches.  She keeps the saree elegant and traditional!

Manushi has decoded the secret of acing the traditional style it seems! She wears a heritage handloom kanjivaram saree accentuated by a gold border along the length of the saree. The statement jewellery and easy-breezy makeup round up her look. A perfect addition to the wardrobe of a romantic bride, this saree is a classic yet flattering.

While Manushi plays a demure diva in this one, this tussar georgette saree can be as playful and flirtatious as they come. A must-have for your wardrobe, this saree lets you play the dress up for your BFF’s wedding, for a sangeet evening or a phera ceremony!   Pair it up with a sleeveless blouse or a halter one to give this traditional drape a modern twist.

The med student Manushi meets the beauty queen avatar! Sporting a beautiful Kanjivaram saree with traditional jewellery and her ‘glasses’,  her look is worth taking inspiration from your big day! Like every other time, she lets her gorgeous drape and jewellery shine and be her natural self. She keeps her makeup neutral and looks elegant!

If there is one dress, which works for every outing and never disappoints, it is a saree. Fresh from winning the title and crown, here she is seen in a conservative saree and a blouse. With her crown and statement jhumkas, she looks like the quintessential Indian woman. This sari with a conservative blouse is a sure-shot winner in your hand if you are meeting your prospective in-laws for the first time or attending a puja! You can go with a crop top or a short kurta to make this sari a total stand-out! Pair this up with kolhapuri sandals or Rajasthani ‘mojris’ to complete your look. But then again, wear this saree with a pair of sneakers and just be you!
